Jenny Orton
Jen Orton, of Pausing Matters LLC, is a coach, trainer, and curriculum specialist in literacy, leadership, and the formative assessment process. Jen obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from University of Alaska, Anchorage and her Masters in School Principalship from Central Michigan University. As a former teacher and Intermediate School District (ISD) consultant, she has experience in grades Pre K-12 as well as community colleges and universities. She supports school districts and educational agencies on a regular basis.
Additionally, Jen is a training associate for Cognitive Coaching (CC) and Adaptive Schools (AS). She is certified to mentor new AS and CC developing trainers. Jen presents both through her position as a lead for MDE's Formative Assessment for Michigan Educators (FAME) and through her own agency, Pausing Matters LLC. The skills, concepts, and principles of CC and AS support educators with a space to think, listen, and pause in ways that embrace and honor the intellectual and emotional need to grow--into whatever the educator's next path might be.
Jen's mission is to be an "agent for good. Channeling curiosity, creativity, and skills helps humans to stay grounded in hope and resourcefulness. This servant leadership mission articulates the work that matters: the work that honors educators, lifts them up, and empowers them to remain efficacious.
